Finnin has developed a unique visual language of symbols inspired as much by images and stories as they are by abstract shapes and colours. The deeply intuitive approach to his painting is reflected in his titles involving words or phrases which "hang around the sideline just warming up" as he works. During the course of the first year's painting, Finnin left to visit India for two months, returning to the studio to conclude all the paintings "with an Indian hand', heightening his colours and creating shapes with a greater sculptural feel. The exhibition celebrates the work of one of the most distinctive abstract painters working today.
